good juju!!

I took a while, but here he is at last!
I love this little guy so much, he really makes me happy!
I had no hesitation in sticking pins in him what so ever. I though about some of our local and mainland politians and the possums that raid our vegie patch...go get em' juju!!

The Super gone wrong

I have finally completed my first Bad Juju doll (well, sort of, he has no face; read more about that on my blog).

The inspiration for my version of Bad Juju was a particularly unsavory character that I'm sure you've all met before. You may call him the Apartment Manager or the Slum Lord, but I choose to call him The Super.

I know there are many wonderful people in the profession, and I don't mean to insult anyone, but you have to agree that there are a few bad apples out there and they are memorable because they make your life a living hell. These bad apples are what I refer to here, so please, no poison pen letters.

My particular Super wears grimy khaki trousers with a thin white t-shirt that most men consider underwear and wouldn't be caught wearing in public. A pack of Marlboro Box rolled up under the edge of the left sleeve is optional.

Before I could decide on finishing details to embroider onto the doll, my toddler claimed it for his own. So you see, it has become a child's toy, as perhaps it should be. *sigh*

I will have to plan another doll and hope it doesn't join the first before it's complete.

A change of plans

I was going to make a 'splodey, Zib, but then the elections sarted. After March 28 I can always convert this guy with a cute little explosive vest and a kaffiyeh (he's talented that way).

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you--

AMIR PERETZ!

Head of the Labor Party, striving hard to come off as further left than Ariel Sharon, the man and the mustache.

This juju doll is missing something right in the middle of its chest. That's right, the heart, because despite his platform, Peretz has no heart (during one strike, there had to be a special dispensation granted to allow the family of a terror victim to fly in, though the airport was closed). And only Xs instead of eyes, because his platform shows he can't see what's going on around him.

The empty loom? Given all the strikes he, as head of the labor union, has promoted over the past few years, do you even have to ask?

RAWR!

Oh dear, I think I went a bit far on the scary stakes, but I had a lot of fun doing it.

All the hate is out of my system and next i'm making a happy one.

This has cheered me up no end, they all look so different and I can't wait to see more. Theresa - i'm still smiling at yours, it's just too damn cute.

I had to tweak my post time too. It put me before both Aurora's and Theresa's.

Too cute to stick pins into.

Bad JuJu
A combination of my tendency to anthropomorphize and the fact that the step-kid said "Awww, how cute!" is seriously dampening my vindictive spirit. I think this will be a present for a friend who will appreciate it for its mixed messages.

I decided to use white so the stuffing wouldn't show through... mostly because I didn't want to have to worry about knitting tightly on my Brittany double points. I used Brown Sheep's Lamb's Pride Worsted Superwash for the body, a thicker mystery yarn for the heart and thinner black yarn for the eyes and mouth.

Come to think of it - maybe he wouldn't be so darn cute if he didn't have that slight smile on his face?

I posted after Aurora - her post is even in my picture, but apparently it's tomorrow already in Australia! Edited to add: Following Rain's example, I've tweaked my time to put me in the right place.

Another finished one!

Stabby and JuJu #1. I know it's a bad photo, but that's what you get from a bad camera, and a bad sense of what is appropriate to photograph with it. I'm underwhelmed at the heart on his chest, and I will certainly do the stitching on the others BEFORE I stuff them (der, der, DER). I think Stabby is saying "I will, and you know I will, destroy something in the night because you made me suffer this humiliation."
